Dead Paintings

This week I opened up all doors and windows
in the barn and did some serious spring cleaning.
The amount of "dead paintings" accumulated there over the years
was overwhelming, so it was time to take action.

start for
"Big Surf"
4 ft. x 6 ft.

I found this HUGE one I'd totally forgotten about
leaning against a wall.
I'd started it a few years ago, got frustrated, and put it away.
It's too bad it got dented while storing it
because it might be fun to work on it now!

However, it's getting re-cycled
along with over 100 of these.

For each one, I asked myself
"would you want to see this on someone's wall?"
If not. Bye bye.

Tough to be honest and let them go,
but the experience of doing them still exists!

Golf Exercise

In honor of the Masters, this week we did the
"Golf" exercise in class.

During my demo, I gave myself 14 strokes
and had to use my Mulligan!

NOTE:
While watching the Masters,
I paused my TV, took an image of it,
and got inspired.

Augusta
10 x 8

This is no particular player as I changed things a bit.
I think the game of golf, in general, makes for great subject matter.
All that sunshine, shadows, body language, and hats!
Pure bliss.

"Next Season" Syndrome

After my parents moved to New England
to be near us in retirement,
they frequently remarked that
"folks here spend all their time getting ready for the next season."
So true, and it's my favorite part!

I squeezed this in today
between "getting ready for spring" projects.
My favorite time of year!

Tennis Anyone?

The beach is still the only place dogs can go crazy and get exercise.
The woods and fields are covered with slush, mud, and debris.
That's April in New England!
Good news:
Red Sox home opener Monday, it's predicted to sunny and 68 degrees.

NOTE:
I'm putting together a summer class session
at North River Arts Society.
Tuesdays 9:30 -12:30
June 9 - July 21 No class (6/23)

Art Snack #2

My second Art Snack arrived yesterday
and I couldn't wait to play!

I took the scene I painted in a acrylics (previous post)
and used all of the materials in the box.

Black fine point pen, yellow and purple watercolor pencils, water brush,
red and blue markers.
Oh, and a piece of bubble gum!

Thanks again to my son for this fun and creative gift~
it just keeps on giving!

Happy Easter/ Passover everyone.
Spring is here.

Foray in to Acrylics

I've been thinking that since many of my students use acrylics
I should break them out once in while.

Slow Thaw
12 x 12
acrylic

Needless to say, the benefits of acrylics are many.
The quick drying makes them fun to layer
and it's easier to keep your colors clean.
However, I miss the "butter" factor of oils!
