For my studio class today, we attempted Carol Marine's DPW Challenge.
You need to use a big brush and "change the color after every stroke."
This is a tough one!
I felt so uptight in this one! |
2nd try |
My tendency is to start by massing in all the big shapes in one flat color.
So for me, this was like writing with the wrong hand.
This is a difficult but important lesson.
It helps you see the subtle color shifts within the same values.
I think tomorrow I'll just paint for the fun of it.
Enough lessons already.
MEANWHILE. THERE IS A LOT GOING ON!

ReplyDeleteThese are really nice. I did one too and have to figure out how to resize it because it wouldn't go and I was tired last night.
ReplyDeleteHave fun painting. I love your blog.
you can really see how you loosen up after the first one. The color harmony in the second one is wonderful.
